About Mark Watson
I've been active in the Transition movement in East Anglia (Sustainable Bungay, Transition Norwich and Transition East) since June 2008, focusing primarily on communications, events, awareness raising, reconnecting with the living systems of the planet and inner transition. And all in the context of responding individually and collectively in a creative way in the face of Peak Fossil Fuels, Climate Change and the collapse of the present economic system.
For me, any future has to include a vibrant, engaged, alive and equitable relationship with our fellow human beings and the rest of the natural world. I spent many years 'studying' wild and medicinal plants and have led groups on visits to the hedgerows, woods and wastegrounds to rediscover them.
Initiatives and Activities:
Sustainable Bungay: co-produce quarterly SB newsletter; write social reports on SB's website; core group 'member'; Transition talks, walks (reconnection with living systems). Help out at most events. Member Bungay Community Bees (community-supported apiculture). Forthcoming: Co-ordinating a Transition Medicine Plant bed in Bungay Library Community Garden for 2012.
Transition Norwich: Regular contributor on Transition Norwich blog This Low Carbon Life. Co-produce monthly news bulletin. Help maintain blog and news website (lots of subbing and proofreading). Active in The Low Carbon Cookbook and Communications groups.
