This is a guide to adding and editing your project to the projects directory on the site. Thank you for taking the time to add your project.
If you have added a project already and are simply editing it, you start at number 3, having found your project. If you are a new website user having added a project via the Project Sharing Engine widget on another site – welcome! And thank you.
Adding your project to the directory does a number of things:
- Presents your project on this website, and via our projects ‘widget’, on other Transition sites
- Gives your project a place marker on the map and point of contact so others can get involved locally
- Shares what you know across the web so others don’t re-invent the wheel
- Helps to build the growing grassroots knowledge base in and around Transition
You need to be a registered site user to add project profiles, and be logged in. You can add your project directly following this link, or follow the step by step process below. You can register here.
The minimum information you need to add is Title, project summary, project status, and location. You could then scroll to the bottom and click save. But as you are here, please add as much as you can; it all goes to helping and connecting to eachother’s work.
1. Login and then click on ‘create content’
Login and click on your name at the top to get to your user account page. On your user account page, click on ‘create content’ in the box on the right hand side.
2. Choose ‘create project profile’ from the list of content you can create
In the list of content you can create, click on ‘project profile’
Choose a good easy to read, short title.
4. Findability is important – choose the most suitable options, not everything
These options are very important to classify your project and help others find it when they are searching.
- ‘Goals’ refer to the outcomes of your project; what it aims to achieve.
- ‘Themes’ refer to the Transition themes which help us understand the area that the project is in. Please be particular about which themes you choose when you classify your project. This defines where your project is placed on our site and elsewhere. People can add lots of themes enthusiastically which can lead to confusion elsewhere. For example, with ‘Inner Transition’ please consider this: is the project facilitating an inner process and/or using some specific Inner Transition expertise?’ If so, select ‘Inner Transition’. If it’s not, don’t add it!
- ‘Transition stage‘ is about what ‘stage’ your Transition group is at (if you are a Transition group).
We are aware that projects live in a whole area rather than an address; this is just to get your project on the map in general, so don’t worry too much about accuracy. Please add at least your postcode/zipcode, state/province and City. You only need to add the first half of a postcode.
6. People and contacts
As the person adding the project, you are listed as the ‘primary point of contact’. You will receive emails when other people click on the ‘contact this project’ button once it is published. You can add a ‘web point of contact’ as well. You can also list the Transition Initiatives related to this project if there are any.
7. About the project
Please add a short summary. There is space further down the form for a full description; what you write here will be listed in small spaces around the website and beyond, so keep it clear and short. Add date started, project status and number of people benefitting.
This is where you add a longer description about your project to explain what you have done, intend to do; lessons you have learnt and other material that you think will be useful for others to learn about your project. Please also choose whether your project is a ‘Transition’ project or not. A Transition project is one related to a Transition Initiative.
9. Further details
This is where you add links, references, documents and more stuff that you think may be useful to others. Reports, flyers etc. are all welcome.
10. Click submit and see your project in the directory
