The Centre for Sustainable Energy are running some free one day workshops for those working with communities on community-led planning for a sustainable future. The workshops look very interesting and we recommend you read the workshop information on the CSE website. The flyer and booking form are attached to this news item as well, and most of the information is copied below.
They run in the following places and dates:
- Ipswich: 7 July 2011
- Kendal: 28 July 2011
- Truro: 8 September 2011
- Maidstone: 6 October 2011
The Localism Bill, the introduction of the Feed-in Tariffs for renewable electricity, and the Renewable Heat Incentive.
These combine to produce a fertile environment for community led planning approaches to low-carbon development and real growth in community ownership of renewable energy generation.
Our one-day workshops, funded by the Department for Communities and Local Government, will help communities take advantage of this shift.
They will introduce you to a suite of tools and information designed to support communities to plan low-carbon and renewable energy initiatives, including more strategic engagement with the statutory planning system.
Workshops will run from 9.30 to 16.00 with registration from 09.00
Lunch and refreshments will be provided, and all delegates will receive a copy of the DVD resource pack to take away with them. There is no charge for the training day but please note that delegates who book and do not attend will receive a non-attendance invoice of £120.
The day has been designed to ensure that you feel confident to take the resources out to your community or those that you work with and kick-start the process of low- carbon planning, or establish a renewable energy project.
There will also be presentations from the Department of Energy and Climate Change, on the Community Energy Online resources and from the UK Climate Impacts Programme on community adaptation to climate change.
Who should come?
This event is designed for community group members or those working with communities on any local planning or sustainable living initiatives and who would like a more robust understanding of the issues, and interactive tools to use with their client groups. We feel it is particularly relevant to officers of:
- Local Authorities
- National Park Authorities
- Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty
- Third Sector organisations working in the field of community empowerment, community led planning, or sustainability groups.
