Legacy gifts

Thank you for considering making a legacy donation.

It’s a powerful way to support grassroots action and local innovation for years to come.

At some point, we all pause to consider the mark we’ll leave — on our communities, our planet, and future generations. For 25 years, the Transition movement has been creating a regenerative, resilient, and just future in over a thousand communities all across the world. Your legacy gift will be part of our annual re-granting rounds and will go directly to these communities.

Zero Guildford in Surrey, UK transformed a vacant fast-fashion shop into a community climate hub with a Library of Things, community fridge, vegan cafe, and an event space. They created a vertical farming display, invited scientists to test local water quality, and performed an energy audit along with workshop participants. They saved 582 tonnes of carbon in just 2 years.

Jalotus helped tens of thousands of Finns create sustainable plans to reduce their energy consumption. Their on-site farm offers a nature connection for city residents by offering an opportunity to get involved in growing food and caring for animals. An on-site upcycling center creates high quality goods from recycled materials. Repair cafes and exchanges also take place here.

Gaia Jovem helps youth in Brazil develop their connection to nature and their purpose. It is composed of 4 stages: festival of connection (learning to be), learning journey (learning to learn), communities of practice (learning to do), all this in a collaborative way (learning to live together) to bring forth ideas, create action plans, and connect with others. It’s a beautiful expression of how Transition is done, bringing in a new generation of visionaries.

Types of Gifts

There are several ways to include a gift to Transition Network in your will, depending on what feels right for you and your loved ones. Each type of gift will ensure that Transition work continues to shape the future.

Residual Gift: is the remainder after all the financial obligations and benefits have been taken care of. A Reversionary gift takes effect only when a beneficiary passes before their benefit is exhausted. There is also an option to create a conditional gift, in an event that a beneficiary cannot claim their portion, the charity can receive it. All these gifts can be expressed as either a percentage of the estate or a fixed sum. The sum can be adjusted for inflation or aligned with the consumer price index.

“Transition Network felt like an inspirational cause to support with innovative international projects to make sustainable change in the world. We are at a time of polycrisis, and the solutions are with the people, so it is time to empower them and Transition Network is a fantastic organisation to do this.”

Individual Donor

“I give [%] or [amount] of my estate to Transition Network, registered charity number 1128675 of c/o BSN Associates Ltd, 3B Swallowfield Courtyard, Wolverhampton Road, Oldbury B69 2JG, UK, to be used for its charitable purposes.”

The wording above is just a start. It does not fully cover the gift type nor the giver’s individual preferences or circumstances. It is intended to offer basic information about the charity and as preliminary guidance only. It can be added to a Will or to an amendment via codicil. It is recommended to discuss your will allocations with a qualified legal representative in your jurisdiction.
