Anna Kovasna
Anna serves as co-chair of Transition Network, a role that aligns well with her passion for place-based community, cross-movement collaboration, and shared governance. She came to Transition Network because she wanted to support and be part of the network’s dedication to governance models that distribute power and welcome co-creation.
Outside of her role in TNI, Anna is the co-founder of Kincentric Leadership, an organisation developing tools and models for placing kinship with all life at the heart of how we navigate polycrisis together. She is also leading the Global Ecovillage Network’s work on resilience to climate change, working with communities around the world to research, strengthen and scale community-led responses to the climate crisis. Having previously worked as the co-lead and education and research director of the same organisation, and being a trustee of Gaia Education, she also brings expertise in charity governance and management, international movement building, transformative education, and action research.
When Anna is not in front of her laptop, you’re likely to find her in the garden, communing with chickens, giving back-scratches to miniature sheep, and working with everyone in her more-than-human community to cocreate a small patch of abundance on a west-facing slope in the French Pyrenees.
Bess Saunders
Co-Chair & Risk management
After a long career in the NHS as an Emergency Medicine Consultant and Paediatrician, I have seen first-hand how our health system is struggling. Working within the system, it was not always possible to make the difference I wanted to see.
That is why I turned to my community. I helped establish a local community garden with a neighbour, explored social prescribing, and trained as a Health Coach. More recently, I have become a Climate Coach and am working towards setting up a Climate Emergency Centre. Because we are in an emergency — not only for our climate, but for our economy, food, water safety, and politics — we need hopeful solutions.
Ikram Hirse
Treasurer
I bring a blend of strategic finance, relational leadership, and community-rooted imagination to Transition Network. My background spans over nine years in the charity and social impact sectors, working across operations, governance, fundraising, and organisational development. I’ve managed multi-year budgets, strengthened financial systems, secured significant grants, and supported charities through periods of change and growth. Alongside the technical skills, I bring a deep passion for community-led design, wellbeing in public spaces, and helping organisations build structures that are transparent, regenerative, and centred on people.
Kelly Tyler
Whilst witnessing the increase of crisis situations and human disconnection in the world, especially through being on the board of a homeless charity Under One Sky and as the Social Impact Director at the Psychosynthesis Trust, she realised the importance of the inner & outer journey to make a sustainable positive impact.
With a background in Psychology working primarily in education, founding a thought-leader speaker agency, a publishing house and business consultancy, and as a Trustee of the College of Psychic Studies, she brings a collaborative, strategic and marketing approach, combined with her individual purpose to help raise consciousness and align people to nature & their true sense of Self, which aligns primarily to TN’s principle of collaboration and looking for synergies.
You will mainly find Kelly in her happy place which is nature with animals, typically on her smallholding in the UK, looking after alpacas, chickens & pigs and connecting with the land to work in harmony using an anthroposophical approach to wellbeing.
Keyne Walker
Keyne is a researcher and policy analyst advocating for more sustainable and resource efficient practices in the engineering sector, with a background in science communication, the politics of climate science, and direct democratic engagement processes.
They are also a campaigner for queer human rights, serving as Strategy Director for the UK based advocacy organisation TransActual, and as a Trustee at Trans Media Watch.
When not able to get out of London for a hike, Keyne writes and runs tabletop gaming campaigns and plans trips to their original home of Dartmoor.
Lisa Gibbons
Lisa has a background in advocacy and youth work, and now manages a Youth Voice project, aimed at supporting young people from underrepresented groups to speak to power.
Lisa also supported a group of young people to start a youth led eco charity called Early Earth Protectors.
Lisa is very passionate about activism, and caring for people and the planet.
Lisa can often be found at a gig or enjoying nature, or hanging out with friends and family. Very happy when on a train to Scotland!
Tom Crompton
I work on the underlying drivers of the polycrisis, recognising that social and psychological factors underlie both the origins of many of the challenges we face, and our reluctance to embrace proportionate and enduring action. For example, our prejudice toward people who are different to us is predicted by indifference to the suffering of more-than-human beings — something which is normalised by mainstream Western cultures; or the environmental crisis is made worse by the strategies that these same mainstream cultures have evolved to shut away awareness that we will each one day die and our bodies rot.
I am employed by Common Cause Foundation, which explores the ways in which such understanding can lead to better and more systemic responses to the polycrisis — here with a particular focus on human values and how these are shaped. This is work that has evolved over the last twenty years, and has led me to forge some very long-running collaborations with social scientists — especially social psychologists.
When I’m not working, I hang out with my kids, try to remind myself that I’m happiest when I’m in wilder-places, and then endlessly plan trips on our bikes or in small boats, to less accessible parts of the UK.
