From Diversity Coordinator to Diversity Embedding
By Catrina Pickering 3rd October 2011
Catrina Pickering, Transition Network’s Diversity Coordinator is leaving the Network at the beginning of October, having worked for Transition since March 2010. Unfortunately, we were unable to find funding to keep her position going and we’re sad to see her go. On the plus side, we’re now looking at embedding diversity and social justice in the work of the rest of the staff at Transition Network so that it’s threaded through our communications, our website, our talks and our projects. Rather than it being just one person that’s consistently thinking about diversity, everyone will be taking responsibility. We’ve also been talking about and are keen to get your thoughts on having a stronger social justice focus to Transition by putting inequality as a central driver in Transition alongside peak oil and climate change. Finally, Catrina has put together a diversity and social justice resource which will be available soon and will be published on the Transition Network website, in the Transition Network newsletter and wherever else we can think of to tell people about it.
