The rumour that Lancaster was going to have its very own Transition Conference has been popping its little head up now and again for more than a year. Could we manage it – opinion was divided. Did we want to – well yes. So when the new style “roadshow” was mooted, I suppose it’s no accident that Lancaster was willing to go first and be the guinea pig – sorry, “pilot”! And now it’s here – or rather the “roadshow” is currently rolling its way towards us. Probably by train.
The organisers are by turns thrilled, excited and appalled by what they have agreed to. We are all waiting to see how it unfolds – and this is what this new blog is all about: the unfolding. Participants at the Transition North West Conference as the roadshow is officially called, are invited to record what is going on for them. We want the big picture stuff – key points from sessions, discussion and response, people’s overall thoughts and impressions, but also the smaller stuff: interesting encounters in corridors, new ideas and important contacts we should all know about, amazing stuff overheard in the bar and, of course, ideas for how to do it all better next time.
Lancaster 2014: it’s the first Roadshow blog – hopefully the first of many.
