A poem from Drew Dellinger: re:vision
By rob hopkins 9th June 2015
As we explore our theme of REconomy, we are trying to do so in a variety of media, film, blogs etc. To that, today, we add poetry. Drew Dellinger speaker, writer, poet, teacher, and author of Love Letter to the Milky Way, has kindly sent us a poem, entitled ‘re:vision’. Here’s how he introduces it:
“To me, this short poem evokes the multitude of changes needed as we Transition our society–from small and subtle perceptual shifts, to pervasive and profound new orientations–that the human community must undertake at the dawn of the Third Millennium. As we make these shifts, we can continue to trust in the deep wisdom, intelligence, and guidance of the unfolding Earth and the enveloping cosmos”.
re:vision
open your eyes.
see visions.
imagine a melody,
infinitely—
listen.
a planet of stories
with islands of silence,
her curved surface
radiates grace.
milky way blazing
in the sky above the city.
speaking in fractals,
the stars are telepathic
wake the poets.
wake the dreamers.
cultivate the tendrils
in the vineyard
of your heart
reorient our buildings to the solstice,
and from the center of the city,
see the stars.
Drew will be teaching a short course on “A Cosmology of Connection: Worldview, Ecology, Justice, and Creativity” at Schumacher College, Sept. 21-25, 2015.
