Announcement of TRESOC launch
By Ed Mitchell 6th September 2010
Naresh Giangrande of Transition Town Totnes has some exciting news about their excellent sounding Energy Group’s new energy society – here follows their announcement. If you are in the area, it sounds like a great event to come along to…
Every so often in Transition Town Totnes a real milestone is reached. The public offer of shares in TTT’s energy group’s Totnes Renewable Energy Society (TRESOC) is one of the biggest milestones yet. The meeting launching the public offering is Friday September 10th at 7pm in the civic hall, town square, Totnes.
The inner workings of TRESOC have remained shrouded in mystery (the directors often won’t even tell me what’s happening) for the last four years. I have been following along at a distance helping in any way I can and offering support and encouragement whenever possible, hoping and yes sometimes even praying that I would see this day. I can confidently say that the legal agreements for projects signed, partners on board, and the prospectus printed. I can also confidently say that this is one of the largest community projects ever attempted in Totnes.
TRESOC will be seeking significant investment for it’s initial projects, which will allow it to deliver it’s remit – the profitable, commercial developing and running of renewable energy resources in Totnes and district.
TRESOC is offering everyone in Totnes and the 15 parishes surrounding Totnes (and only those people) a share in our energy future. It is also offering us very attractive returns on the money we invest.
It will come as no surprise to TTT supporters that we see energy as key to our future. And it might also come as no surprise that renewable energy resources are being bought up and developed- and fast! We have already had one potential resource bought from under our feet. But we are determined that the safe, clean, renewable energy of Totnes and district is owned and controlled by the people it belongs to- us. TRESOC is there to ensure that we own our resources, not large energy companies or private investors.
The evening of the 10th September is your chance to hear the full details of the initial projects that TRESOC will be unveiling and hear the full financial details. The directors will be there to answer all questions. When we launched TTT to a full house on the 6th of September 2006 we made many promises and laid out many plans. Join us on the 10th of September 2010 when we will make good on one of those promises.
