Announcing Inner Transition week!
By Sophy Banks 1st April 2015
Let the beauty we love be what we do.
There are a hundred ways to kneel and kiss the Earth.

Recently I was surprised to learn from Rob that the two things he’s most often asked about are Inner Transition and REconomy. Funny, isn’t it, what we don’t know or see when we are immersed in a project? That set me thinking and Inner Transition Week was born – a week of blogs and other content about this aspect of Transition.
Running from 20 – 24th April, the week will launch a series of short films on the ‘inner’ in Transition. The films, featuring a cross section of individuals around the movement, describe what Inner Transition can offer, how it arose, how and why it has become an integral part of Transition, as well as outlining some of the tools designed to support the Inner in Transition. We’ll hear from others about why it’s been essential to their Transition journey – and we’d love to hear from you as well!
What is Inner Transition?
Inner Transition covers a big territory – you could say it’s where all the understandings and practices of spiritual and personal growth movements meet the need to redesign our physical systems for living. So by its very nature, there are many different ways of including it in what we do and how we work.
It’s about how we work together and collaborate. It’s about power sharing and leadership. For some, the focus is on creating healthy, supportive relationships in our personal and organizational lives. For others, it’s about personal wellbeing – mindfulness, meditation, yoga or being connected to nature. And others see the need to understand what brings about happiness or well being and include this in our political or social priorities. It can also be about bringing our values or faith into every aspect of our lives.
For me, it’s about all of these, and much more, with the specific question – “How is this practice, insight, or method useful and relevant to the process of transitioning to a future which really works at the community level?”.
Share your stories and questions
If you have stories or questions about Inner Transition – something you’ve included that’s helped you or your group, or something you’ve been wondering, please send them to me and we will include as many of them as possible in the week. The deadline for inclusion is April 13th – so why not send us something now?!
