Donate to Transition US
By Ed Mitchell 4th October 2010
Our friends in Transition US are going on a fundraising drive in order to continue their work supporting the Transition Towns Movement in the US. Here’s the information – Please have a read and donate…
Across the country, people are taking the future into their own hands: they’re stepping up to foster local sustainability and community resilience in the face of climate change and dwindling fossil fuel supplies.
Here’s the best part: every dollar you contribute will be matched through a challenge grant going through The Post Carbon Institute, if we hit our $100,000 Challenge Goal. That will mean $200,000 infused into supporting grassroots efforts nationwide – a huge difference for the Transition movement.
Already, the pace of change has been astounding. Since Transition US was founded just two years ago, 75 Transition Communities have formed — in rural areas like Hay River, Wisconsin; cities like Houston, Texas; and even the largest metropolitan area in the US: Los Angeles, California.
That’s 27 million Americans who now live in a population center with an active Transition Initiative! Add to that an additional 41 million Americans who live in areas where Transition Initiatives are in formation.
Now, Transition US is taking a bold step: we’re seeking to raise $200,000 by the end of the year, to give this burgeoning movement a big boost at a critical time. Will you make a financial contribution to support our work, and the work of Transition Communities across the country?
You’ll help us grow our capacity to support inspiring efforts like those in Oklahoma City, where people are promoting a return to local food and organic farming in one of the centers of American agribusiness. In rural Minnesota, where Transition Northfield is mobilizing young people to build a new world through hip events like it’s “Mom, Dad, We Need to Talk!” summit. And like-minded groups doing vital work across the country.
Help us unleash the power and creative genius of people and communities to wean us off fossil fuels and make the shift to thriving, sustainable communities. Help us spur the Transition Movement and move us closer to reaching our Challenge Grant by making a contribution today.
Join us in leaving a legacy for our children and for generations to come.
Sincerely,
Carolyne, Carl, and the TUS Team
PS – Thanks for considering our request for support. And thanks for your good work!
