Energyshare launches
By Ed Mitchell 26th January 2011
Our friends at Landshare are launching a new social network for energy groups called Energyshare. It is specifically designed to support energy groups with networking and information and is worth a look. Here is their outline:
Energyshare is a new initiative which aims to celebrate renewable energy projects across the UK and inspire and support more to get started. We believe that the best way to create sustainable change is through individual and community action.
It is an online social network, a website where you can get together with like-minded people to share your ideas. The site will provide information about funding, plus offer advice and tools for community renewable energy projects.
You can find out how communities like yours are successfully generating their own energy and share your own experiences. Case studies offer practical information and financial models, with tips and advice from community projects.
For instance find out how a community swimming pool cut heating costs by half. Or how a town generates electricity and income using their own hydro scheme, and how a community hall slashed running costs by 90% using renewable energy.
We want to film and share community stories, and you can watch videos of successful projects at energyshare.
By joining energyshare your group can gather the support needed to make your project a success, whether that’s help with planning or a show of support for a successful funding application. Together we can do more. This is just the start – come and join us.
Get involved and get support for your project by registering on the site
