First national hubs online meeting!
By Gary Alexander 5th October 2011
We had a very exciting virtual meeting today, of people from Transition Network national hubs. There were 5 of us, Gary Alexander (UK and Transtion Network Board), Filipa Pimental (Portugal and national hubs coordinator), Isabela Maria Gomez de Menezes (Brazil), Davie Phillip (Ireland), Trathen Heckman (USA).
It was a virtual video meeting, using Google+ ‘hangouts’ (see screenshot), which was new to all of us, but it worked quite well.
There were certain problems with time zones, and poor Tra from California had to be up at 5 am to join us, but it basically worked.
We felt it was important to begin to move away from a sense that the Transition movement is centred around the UK. We will be getting in touch with many other national hubs, finding out what has worked for them and what hasn’t, and what they need.
It was an excellent start to our network of national hubs. We’ll try to compile a ‘handbook’ of experiences to guide and support them.
