Possible Transition Hub for England…and Wales?
By sam rossiter 5th August 2015
Transition Network now has an expanding and evolving group of National Hubs who help connect and co-ordinate transition activity in their countries. They are a diverse and geographically dispersed group with hubs across three continents with others emerging fast. They form an increasingly connected network, meeting online and sharing ideas and inspiration and finding ways to collaborate across distances. TN is working to support communication and capacity building and will be hosting a gathering of hub representatives in Devon before the TN Conference this year.
Recent conversations within the TN Board and with individuals in some English Transition initiatives have identified the potential for an independent, initiative-led Hub in England. Early discussions have taken place around the following questions:
- Why is there a need for a National Hub – what would be gained and what might be being lost by not having a Hub for England?
- Is this the right territory across which to operate – what’s happening in Wales and might we want to operate at a regional rather than a national scale?
- What might such a Hub (or Hubs) look like?
- What would be needed for a Hub to develop (if one is needed)
We would like to explore this possibility with interested Transitioners from England or Wales – there are two ways to get involved:
Register your interest by emailing amberponton@transitionnetwork.org and we will include you in future email discussions and invite you to online meetings.
We plan to call a discussion on this subject at the Open Space session at the TN Conference – so if you are attending look out for this and join in the conversation.
