Sharing Engine diagrams
By Ed Mitchell 22nd November 2010
We are about to start on ‘phase 3’ of our development work. Part of phase 3 is about ‘outside the login’. ‘Outside the login’ is about Transition activity ongoing not on this site, and how we relate to it.
For example 1, Transition Brixton might have a great currency news item that Transition Grenoble could learn from – how can we share that? Example 2 is how we can share our data with other sites (e.g. up to date feeds of the initiatives). So there are two elements:
- The Sharing Engine
- How we share our data and authentication
This post is about ‘The Sharing Engine’
These are the diagrams to illustrate how the ‘Sharing Engine’ will manage information and how it will be represented on the Transition Network site. Read an explanation of the Sharing Engine stages, how it might work with the social networks on the web, and our editorial process to help make sense of all the information on this site.
There are many questions arising from collecting and re-purposing news from multiple sites, some of which we are already thinking about (e.g. ‘how can we categorise an item from Transition Bristol?), and some which we won’t know until we see it in action. How does this look to you?
We will also be collecting blog posts from bloggers on the web who are writing on related topics in our ‘voices’ stream. It looks like this:
These two diagrams can be downloaded as .pdfs.
