Treehouse project: UK community design competition

“Sky Television is planning to televise – and promote massively – a community design competition that will feature the design and delivery of three new tree-houses that are popular, sustainable and hopefully in slightly counter-intuitive locations. The idea is that the treehouses are designed by communities, with support from an expert designer and are largely constructed from salvaged or locally and sustainably harvested material.
An official ‘call for project’ will be issued soon. However, in advance I am looking to make contact with different communities to check feasibility.
Although somewhat eccentric, I believe this competition could act as an ‘accelerator’ for a project already in the pipeline – helping to find resources and transform a space and make things happen faster than they otherwise would. I also believe that given how creative & action minded the the Transition Town’s communities are, a sustainable community treehouse project might very be ‘just right’ for a number of them.”
