Updates: where are we now and what do we need to talk about/decide?

Project phase: pre-production/planning

  • working within TN to start building our business requirements

  • working with the new developer to get idea of time, money and structure of development (new guy very clear of workload and development)

Universal/local questions for steering group: e.g. what’s on International site?

Universal is:

  • English language

  • Generic group support materials (Non-local specific (ie no legal or cultural specificities))

 

We have to blend Universal site with UK national hub site for a while before we have separate national hub sites.

 

What is the differentiating factor between universal and local?

  • specific resources

  • map location

  • could be language

  • Where do UK resources live?

  • How/what do we migrate?

Options for us to decide on how we proceed with universal/local

 

  • Launch 3.1 with a separate UK site

  • Launch 3.1 with no specific materials at all

  • Launch 3.1 with a universal support directory with an extra pane in the elements with UK specific content and links to resources

 

Discussion about International/local

  • Immediately understand it is international and know where to go – and that user journey is really obvious to the users

  • front page is all universal (international?) stuff

    • might have inspiring stories from international / local

    • start with local stories – international inspirational story

  • not going to have time to translate into various languages

  • can we set up a page describing transition into different languages

  • ie set the pathways up even though there isn’t much content – show that there is local activity

  • We can say to hubs in the run up to tnv3 – what are the two top priority docs that they want to translate – and then everyone can do it

    • e.g. what is transition

    • key part of the story

    • each national hub/country has a landing page / profile page (editable by nat hub admin) – these could be the landing pages for that country, with local TIs listed

    • 1. Strategic Outcomes

      • think about the emphasis on which SO

        • 1 & 2 very significant

        • 3,4, 6 not so significant

        • 5 very significant for digital architecture

    • 2. Roles mapping

      • good to see them there and considered

      • but not for an organisational perspective

      • feel like a completeness checks

    • 3. Mapping to the strapline

      • – like roles

      • – a completeness checks

      • Celebration of web team’s contribution

AGREED to use the outcomes to define the product as the way forwards

 

  • How to take TNv3 product strategy forward?

    • Who involve to take it to next level and how?

    • BB: determined in sit down meet with annesley and techs to determine what’s needed

      • would be too fluffy if just in TN

    • SR: set ourselves some targets and aspirations

      • (30 national hubs, 20K page views, do x,y,z)

      • ie define the requirements using goals

    • SR: Is now the moment to introduce personas?

    • EM: use personas later? EM and SR talk later…

    • EM: need some way for TN to own the TNv3 strategy in parallel with the techs and the business goals

    • AGREED: we need to work on the ‘Purpose’ statements for TNv3 as next step

ACTION: ALL comment on the TNv3 doc to improve AFTER the sub-group done its work

    • Reviewed and discussed

    • EM: Should this be called the web ‘service’ in fact?

    • AGREED: rename ‘web project to web service

 

Another web working group: ‘Product’ owners at higher user level

 

We need to connect with the National Hubs (and others) who have a high level of interest in ‘the product’ and a growing stake in its use.

 

  • BB: Working group: comms and info

    • suggests direct invitation to them and note to filipa’s newsletter

  • EM asked Filipa who said newsletter not suitable but would email all

 

AGREED go with filipa’s suggestion – and make sure it’s clear that it’s a one off

AGREED: call this group the ‘International web steering panel’

  • Group’s purpose and role

    • oversee TNv3 development at high / international level

    • represent international hubs in the web strategy (as will BB)

    • Longer term ambition to share more decisions internationally in the future (e.g. how to share data, architectural decisions)

 

  • SR: people not represented: international initiatives that don’t have a national hub – may have different needs to a country with a national hub

    • BB – not practicable can’t get down to a low level – we can only work at national hub level

 

AGREED: main focus for International Web Steering Panel is the National Hubs

ACTION: write email for filipa, add some questions to illustrate what we’re thinking: what we’re trying to decide is architectural points (cloning international vs iirs etc.)
